Employee Benefits Statement

As a business owner, do you know if your employees understand the true value of the benefits that you provide to them?

Chances are they do not understand the true value of the total package.

When I am sitting down with someone who has either lost or quit their job for what ever reason, the biggest coment I hear when looking at the cost of health insurance is:

I only paid $150 per month at my old job, why is it $600 per month now when I am getting it on my own?

There are some that do understand that their employers pay half, if not most of their health benefits, but most of them do not.  This is where the education factor comes in and why we use an employee benefits statement.

Using an employee benefits statement not only shows how much their compensation is, but it can also show how much their total compensation package is for working at your business.  You know that what you pay them every week or month is not the total cost and by your employees knowing what their total benefits package is makes them appreciate you and their job that much more.

By using a statement like the one above, your employees now feel more valued because they understand it’s not just the $23,000 that they take home, they actually are being compensated almost $31,000.

Now wouldn’t you feel more appreciated at a job that pays you almost $31,000 as apposed to a job that only pays you $23,000?  You are already paying them that, let us help you communicate that to them for free.

the health debate notes

If you have insurance, this plan will provide stability and security by:

  • Nothing in this plan requires you to change what you have.
  • It will be against the law for insurance companies to deny you because of a pre existing condition.
  • It will be against the law for insurance companies to drop your coverage
  • Insurance companies will no longer be allowed to place a cap on lifetime benefits
  • This plan will place a limit on out of pocket expenses
  • Insurance companies will be required to cover preventative care

If you are currently uninsured:

  • An exchange will allow you to shop for coverage and you may pick from private and public plans
  • Those that can not afford insurance will get credits to purchase coverage

The exchange will take effect in four years.

Young and healthy – not getting coverage, businesses choosing not to cover their employees

  • Those that choose not to get coverage cost the rest of us money in higher premiums
  • You will be required to carry health insurance like you are required to carry auto insurance
  • The public plan would only be available to those with out health insurance through the exchange

How do we pay for this plan

  1. Provision that will bring about more spending cuts if there is a chance it will add to the deficit
  2. Savings in the system will help take care of the majority of the expense of the plan (medicare & medicade)

Medicare address

  • Not one dollar of the medicare trust fund will pay for the public plan
  • Will eliminate the excess money going to private plans that do not improve care (medicare advantage)
  • Savings will fill the gap in coverage of the prescription program (no more dougnut hole) – needed bigtime!
  • Tort reform (medical malpractice lawsuits)
